  •  OBJECTIFS :

 

 

This programme is part of a center of excellence which houses training for a period of 3 years: 1st year after bac+2, then 2 years of Master: The launch could be done with a course (S51 & S6 on the basis of Bac+2 prerequisites) per center for 2023/2024. The objectives of this programme « educational linguistics » includes:

  1. Understanding language acquisition: Educational linguistics aims to provide a deep understanding of how language is acquired, both in first language acquisition and second language acquisition contexts. This includes studying the cognitive processes involved in language learning and the factors that influence language development.
  2. Analyzing language in educational contexts: Educational linguistics seeks to analyze language use and communication patterns within educational settings. This involves examining the language demands of academic tasks, exploring how language is used in instruction, and investigating the role of language in classroom interaction.
  3. Examining language policies and planning: Educational linguistics investigates language policies and planning in educational systems. This includes studying the impact of language policies on educational outcomes, analyzing language-in-education policies, and exploring issues related to language diversity and bilingual education.
  4. Enhancing language teaching and learning: One of the primary objectives of training in educational linguistics is to improve language teaching and learning practices. This involves applying linguistic theories and research findings to instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment in language education.
  5. Promoting language awareness: Educational linguistics aims to develop language awareness among educators and learners. This involves fostering an understanding of the structure, functions, and varieties of language, as well as promoting critical thinking about language use and linguistic diversity.
  6. Supporting language assessment and evaluation: Educational linguistics provides insights into the development and use of language assessments in educational contexts. This includes understanding the principles of language assessment, designing valid and reliable assessment tools, and interpreting and using assessment results effectively.
  7. Conducting research in educational linguistics: Training in educational linguistics equips individuals with research skills to investigate language-related issues in education. This involves designing and conducting empirical studies, analyzing data, and contributing to the existing knowledge base in the field.
